Make Mom the Queen of the Realm This Mother’s Day at Scarborough Renaissance Festival

This Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 10, skip the expected and give Mom an experience she will never forget at Scarborough Renaissance Festival, where Mom reigns supreme for the day.

Set in a 16th-century English village just south of Dallas in Waxahachie, Scarborough Renaissance Festival turns Mother’s Day into a full-day escape filled with live entertainment, artisan shopping and indulgent fare. In this storybook setting, Mom can enjoy a little royal treatment while the kids take on their roles as loyal subjects and Dad steps in as the knight in shining armor, making the day feel both magical and easy to plan.

To make the day even more memorable, the Festival is hosting a “Royal Treatment for Mom” contest. Families can nominate their favorite mom for a chance to win a prize package that includes four tickets, drinks, a food voucher and a special gift from the artisan marketplace. Entries are open now at https://www.srfestival.com/rtw-mom/ and close at 11:59 p.m. on April 30, 2026.

Also on Mother’s Day, children 12 and under are admitted free with each paid adult admission, giving families another reason to spend the day together.

Beyond the festivities, Scarborough’s renowned artisan marketplace offers the perfect opportunity to let Mom choose a gift as unique as she is. With more than 200 shoppes throughout the village, guests can discover handcrafted treasures ranging from elegant glassblown art and hand-thrown pottery to Renaissance-inspired crowns, tiaras and circlets fit for a queen. Delicate floral garlands, bespoke jewelry crafted from sterling silver and gemstones and finely made accessories including parasols, fans and ornate hairpieces offer thoughtful ways to commemorate the day.

Throughout the village, artisans bring their craft to life with live demonstrations, from glass sculpting and silversmithing to candle carving, calligraphy and pottery, creating an immersive and interactive shopping experience. Families can also capture the moment with a professional photo in period costume, giving Mom a timeless keepsake from her day in the kingdom.

Moms can also enjoy a touch of indulgence throughout the day with on-site experiences for purchase including relaxing massages, whimsical hair braiding, henna body art and fresh floral offerings, adding to the feeling of being pampered like royalty.

Special Mother’s Day activities include a mead tasting experience at the Castle Pavilion from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., where the first 100 moms will receive two complimentary mead samples and enjoy exclusive offers. Families can also take part in a children’s craft station where little ones create heartfelt cards and letters for Mom, adding a personal and memorable touch to the day.

When it comes to dining, Scarborough offers a feast worthy of a queen. Whether Mom prefers a leisurely, sit-down meal or grazing her way through the village, there is something to suit every royal taste. Guests can relax inside the Rose & Crown Inn and enjoy classic European fare such as shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash and savory meat pies, or wander the lanes enjoying festival favorites from dozens of kitchens. From Scotch eggs and artisan breads to pastries, charcuterie-style bites and globally inspired dishes, the options are as varied as they are indulgent. Sweet finishes like fresh-baked pastries, fruit-forward desserts and warm cobblers add the perfect touch to a day dedicated to celebrating her.

As part of Flights of Fantasy Weekend, guests will encounter whimsical entertainment and interactive moments throughout the village, including a fantasy costume contest, a Fairy Initiation Ceremony for children and playful, immersive experiences around every corner.

From start to finish, Scarborough Renaissance Festival offers a Mother’s Day celebration that blends romance, family fun and unforgettable moments. It is more than a gift. It is a full day dedicated to making Mom feel like the queen she truly is.
